Year 4: Service Learning in Caliraya: Thursday 31 January
On Thursday 31 January, Year 4 students visited the school in Caliraya that Year 7 worked with during Service Learning Week. There was a chance for our students to engage with the local students, and enjoy some fun and educational activities together. Everyone really enjoyed the sports and science.

Year 6: Service Learning at GK Enchanted Farm: 29 January – 1 February
Year 6 had a fantastic few days learning about social entrepreneurship at Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm. They met with representatives of the School for Experiential and Entrepreneurial Development (SEED) and heard more about their programmes to develop future entrepreneurs. We are delighted to report that Year 6 presented a cheque to enable a gifted young person to undertake two years of training as a SEED Scholar. This money was raised by last year’s Year 6, and will be topped up by this year’s! For more information, please see this outline of the programme here: http://www.gk1world.com/seed

International Evening – Friday 15 February, 2019
This time next week we will be getting dressed up, ready to join in the Parade of Nations and enjoy the biggest charity event in the school year – International Evening. The event is only a success, due to the hard work of the very many people giving up their time, energy, money and often sleep to create a fantastic evening for us all. We want to thank everyone who has been involved this year.

Tickets are still available before and after school next week, except on Friday afternoon, when they are not available until 4.30pm. Doors open at 5pm, and the Parade starts at 5.30pm. Food is not served until after the Parade and the National Anthems, so please remember to make sure your children have a snack before they get back to BSM.

Ticket Prices: Php 750 (anyone aged 11 and over); Php 500 (aged between 3 and 10); free (under 3).

We are delighted to be able to offer fantastic food from the following countries, and some amazing performances. Thank you to everyone who has been working so hard to get ready for the big night.

Parade of Nations
If you have signed up to our Parade of Nations, you will be receiving an email from our Parade Committee with the details of where and when to meet on the night. Please remember to make sure anyone joining in is dressed up. The winners of the house-point competition will be announced after the event, but the top prizes will be announced on stage after the Parade of Nations. So good luck! This year, we will enjoy the Marching Band led by Boyet Sabas from 5pm, until our Ringmaster, Glenn Hardy, dressed in another amazing costume, starts the Parade of Nations at 5.30pm. We look forward to enjoying Lion Dancers, Drummers and Filipino Dancers, as well as some beautiful outfits. We will then share the Philippine and British National Anthems before we announce the food stalls are open.

BSM World Food Passport
In addition to the food stalls, performances and sponsors to visit – there is a new addition this year: a BSM World Food Passport.
