New Addition to our Higher Education Counselling Team

This week’s Lion’s Roar article has been written by Chris Jones, Deputy Head of Senior School, on behalf of the Higher Education team.

Following a global search, we are pleased to announce a new addition to our Higher Education counselling team, John Macrow, who will be joining the team from August 2019.  John is a highly experienced College Counsellor with over ten years experience working in international schools.  In his two most recent posts, John worked for four years at Dulwich College Shanghai and for three years as Director of Higher Education at Wellington College Shanghai.  John is expert in preparing students to apply to all our major destinations; we expect to benefit greatly from the networks and contacts that John has established on his overseas College tours and Conference attendances over many years.

John will replace Paul Yap to complete our complement of three College counsellors within our six strong IB team.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank Paul for all his work over the past seven years. His vision and professionalism have been instrumental in the development of the Higher Education team and his counselling inputs have delivered notable successes during his time with us.  We are delighted that his time at BSM has equipped Paul with the skills and experience to move to a similar role in another top tier international school overseas; we wish him all the best.

We have a detailed transition plan in place to ensure that the move between counsellors is seamless for your child.  We are also pleased to say that John will be spending some time in BSM in term three this year, from 13th to 15th May.  He will be sitting in on Year 12 university interviews and getting to know and understand the stories and aspirations of
students in our Year 12 group. I know that John is very much looking forward to getting to know our students and our community.  We also know that he is assured of a warm BSM welcome.

Next Week is Week B.
