Year 10: Visit to Stepping Stones – Tuesday 19 November
On Tuesday, five students from Year 10 visited Stepping Stones School to help identify the projects that will be undertaken by the Year 10 teams in January during Senior Service Learning Week. They met Dayal Nandwani and his team, and a number of the students experiencing the specialist education, therapy and vocational training sessions.
It was a rewarding morning, hearing about the impact that previous Year 10 BSM students have made on the ability of Stepping Stones to continue to deliver high quality support to children and young adults with special needs, and finding out what the priorities are for the school now.
We look forward to seeing how the Year 10 students of SY20/21 build on the gardens, classrooms, library, sensory room, playground, wall painting and other contributions of their predecessors. Thank you to Mr Guinness for leading the trip, and to Nunu and Luis (10EWA); Piper and Cecillia (10HDE) and Xiying (10SRO).
Kythe Foundation Toy Drive: Monday 18 – Friday 22 November
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Toy Drive conducted by the Kythe ASA students this week. The donations will all go to the bedridden children at QMMC (Quirino Memorial Medical Centre), who will be spending Christmas in hospital.
If you missed the donations boxes, please contact Rissa, 13GAN, who will be able to arrange collection of your contribution. Well done to the team – and thank you BSM.
BSM Christmas Cards 2019 – On Sale Now!
This morning also saw the first sales of the 2019 BSM Christmas Cards. We were delighted to get started, and to be adding to the Service Learning Fund before Christmas. BSM Marketing have generously paid for the cards to be printed, and so every peso you spend goes directly to the Service Learning partners that we work with. In addition to the 2019 cards, we also have a limited number of cards from previous years available, on sale at half price! If you would like to order some, please email Emma Denton.
BSM Rugby Big Boots Drive: Monday 25 – Friday 29 November
Three of our senior students, who are all keen participants in BSM Rugby, are holding a rugby / football boots drive next week. The donated boots will be given to the teams that BSM play against on a regular basis, many of whom either have to share boots, or end up playing without. Unfortunately, this is a regular occurrence, and apart from affecting the quality of rugby their opponents can play, it also puts the affected children at risk of a serious injury.
We hope that you can spend this weekend searching for any sports boots that your children no longer need. Please drop them off in the boxes at Ground Level all next week. If you would like any more information about BSM Rugby, or this initiative, please contact the Lead Coach, Ben Mudie, or one of the students who are spearheading the drive: Miranda 13ATU, Livia 12NBR and Olivia, 11ARE. Thank you again, BSM.
